Cameron smiled sympathetically, watching the man try to contain his grief.
He had seemed so stand-offish at first: tall, smart, short curly-hair, an impenetrable gaze behind scholarly glasses.
He was a scientist, with a severe allergic reaction.
Cameron eventually learned he collected spores, mold and fungus.
Fortunately he was allergic to just one.
Unfortunately it was his favourite.
He broke down.
“Oh Queenie!” he sobbed, “What will I do without you? I’ll have to go back to sleeping with the toaster”
Cameron gently patted his shoulder. She felt proud of herself, being finally able to give someone bad news.
